We want to congratulate the Schwieterman family on their huge success with our recent New Year Cleanse 30-Day Challenge! As a family they lost a combined 41 lbs. and changed some simple habits that made them feel better than ever. Check out their group photo and the great before and after photo that Megan shared! Here is what Linda had to say about the experience:
"When Tom and Mackenzie decided to do the T&J Cleanse/Challenge I figured what the heck I might as well follow the plan too to make meal planning simpler. Then our daughter Megan also decided to follow along. I had mixed feelings about this personally because I really didn’t think I ate that bad and I really don’t like restricting myself of all my simple pleasures (like my daily need to eat a dark chocolate Dove or my weekend Diet Coke). But I accepted the challenge along with the others and what happened next I never expected. We all started losing weight!
We followed the diet verbatim in week one. The biggest challenge was getting organized. To keep us on track, we weighed out snack bags of nuts, almonds, fruit and carrots each Sunday to get us through the week. We created a weekly menu using T&J (Kelly) guidelines so there was no question each day on what we were going to eat each night. We ate salmon, tilapia, turkey breast, chicken, rice, eggs, fruit, vegetables and really enjoyed how the food tasted and ultimately how it made us feel! After week one we all had dropped some pounds. By the end of the 30 days Tom lost 15 pounds, Megan lost 10 pounds, Mackenzie lost 6 pounds and surprising no one more than myself I lost 10 pounds.
We realized that while we ate a lot of the same foods before the challenge we also snacked on things with little nutritional value throughout the day. We changed these things to cuties, apples (with cinnamon) and carrots. We added more vegetables to our diets including asparagus, brussel sprouts, green beans, cauliflower rice and broccoli. We are not generally vegetable people so adding them was a big change for us and we found that they weren’t so bad. Making a few simple changes made a huge difference. We had our cheat day after the challenge was over (pizza) but started right back to the plan afterwards.
We want you to know that if you are considering this challenge you should definitely do it! It is not hard and the food is enjoyable. The results will follow and coupled with the T&J classes you will see results you might not have expected, like me!
